Compare the continuous duty rating rather than the peak number, and match it to how many hours the machine will actually run.

A commercial rating assumes many different users, longer running hours and heavier loads, so the frame, drive, bearings and deck are specified accordingly. A home-rated machine used on a shared or club floor will wear faster and may fall outside its warranty terms. If several households or members will use it, rate it commercially.

Plan for the machine’s own footprint plus clear run-off space behind it, room at the sides to step off, and ceiling height that still clears your head when you are running on a raised deck.
