Start with the space, not the machine. Measure the footprint, then add clearance around it, check the ceiling height if you intend to run or press overhead, and confirm there is a dedicated power point within reach. A machine that fits the room on paper but blocks a door is a machine that stops being used.

Then match the rating to the use. Continuous-duty motor ratings, frame weight and maximum user weight tell you how a machine behaves on its thousandth hour, not its first. Equipment for a shared or commercial floor is specified for unsupervised use, which is why it is heavier and costs more than a comparable home model. If two products look similar, compare those numbers, the warranty terms and what installation and service include, rather than the console graphics.
